I definitely think it would be worth trying to reproduce the problem on a 5.x server if you have the time (I regret I do not).

I do not know if ND6 servers send packets with "do not fragment" - can any Lotus/IBM lurkers comment?

As for the rest of it, if it is a base protocol issue as I suspect it may be, then I for one lack the tools to debug it properly. If only we could reproduce the problem on demand, we might be able to persuade Lotus to take a closer look.
